Eugenie Bouchard has herself a new coach for 2015. The 20-year old Canadian will be working with Sam Sumyk, the highly respected coach who previously worked with world number one Victoria Azarenka, according to The Toronto Star’s Stephanie Myles.

Bouchard and Sumyk were seen training at the National Tennis Centre in Montreal earlier this week, and the hire was confirmed to The Toronto Star by a reliable source.

Sumyk worked with Azarenka as recently as last week’s Australian Open, and helped the Belarus native reach the final 16 in Melbourne. Azarenka, who began working with Sumyk five years ago, has given him full credit for her growth and rise to the top.

Before that, the 47-year-old coached Russian Vera Zvonareva.

Bouchard enjoyed a solid Australian Open that saw her reach the quarterfinals before falling to eventual runner up Maria Sharapova. She split from long-time coach Nick Saviano at the end of last season.

The Canadian will look to build on her success at the Australian Open when she travels to Antwerp, Belgium for the BNP Paribas Fortis Diamond Games.
