In the third installment of the 12-city 2015 PowerShares Series circuit, Andy Roddick defeated James Blake 6-1 in the championship of the Champions Cup at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb. on Wednesday night.

The Nebraska native captured the fourth title of his career on the circuit. He also won the event in Los Angeles last week, but being from Nebraska made this one a little more special.

“It’s great to be able to play tennis here,” said Roddick, who was born in Omaha. “I’ve come here so many times to watch games and visit family, but to do what I love here at this beautiful venue is really cool for me.”

The former world number one has always made known his love for Nebraska, most notable the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. Roddick was influential in bringing one of the events of the PowerShares Series circuit to Nebraska.

“I definitely staked my claim to play back in Nebraska first. It was a priority for me,” said Roddick. “I’ve been to Lincoln many, many times. Never played tennis there, but I’ve been there for football games a bunch.”

Earlier in the evening, John McEnroe made his debut on this year’s circuit, falling to Blake in the semifinals. Roddick defeated Jim Courier in his semifinal match.

The win puts Roddick atop the leader board with 800 points after the circuit’s first three events.

The circuit continues tonight at the Sears Center in Chicago, Ill. with the same cast of players: McEnroe, Roddick, Blake and Courier.
