Roger Federer moved into the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Monday with a 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 win over 20th-seeded Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut. The seven-time Wimbledon champion didn’t face a single break point chance, and has now held serve in his last 100 service games.

On return, Federer was just as sharp. He broke twice in the first set to take the opener and then broke for a 2-1 lead in the second. He would go on to fire 12 winners in the second set to take a commanding two sets-to-love lead.

In the third, he won 100 percent of his first service points and gave no window for Bautista Agut to get back into the match. He would serve out the remainder of the match to cruise into the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the 11th time in his career.

The second-seed Federer will play 12th-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon next. Simon dominated sixth-seed Tomas Berdych for a 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray got past 23rd-seeded Croatian Ivo Karlovic 7-6(7), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals. The third-seed Murray broke the big-serving Karlovic twice in 12 opportunities, including one in the final set to advance.

Murray will play the only non-seeded player left in the tournament, Canada’s Vasek Pospisil, who came back from two sets down to beat 22nd seeded Serb Viktor Troicki 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.

French Open champion and fourth-seed Stan Wawrinka edged 16th-seeded David Goffin of Belgium 7-6(3), 7-6(7), 6-4 on Monday.

“It was a tough one,” said Wawrinka. “I’m really happy with the victory, especially in three sets. I wasn’t moving great. I was a little bit soft in general. But I’m happy to get through. It’s an important victory for me.”

Wawrinka will play 21st-seed Richard Gasquet of France, who dispatched of 26th-seeded Australian Nick Kyrgios 7-5, 6-1, 6-7(7), 7-6(6) in one of the day’s early matches.

Marin Cilic continued his excellent play in London with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over American Denis Kudla. Cilic had 21 aces and 38 winners to move past Kudla, and set up a matchup against either world number one Novak Djokovic or 14th-seed Kevin Anderson.

Djokovic and Anderson were tied up at two-sets each and will resume their match tomorrow morning due to darkness.
