Canadian Eugenie Bouchard was force to withdraw from Saturday’s women’s doubles and mixed-doubles at the U.S. Open after reportedly slipping and falling in the locker room, sustaining a head injury.

On Friday, Bouchard advanced to the Round of 16 in the Women’s Singles Draw after her 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 win over Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova.

She was scheduled to team with Russian Elena Vesnina in women’s doubles action and face the American duo of Raquel Kops-Jones &Abigail Spears, the number six seeds, on Court 11. Later in the day on Court 5, she was to team with Australian Nick Kyrgios in mixed-doubles to face the fourth-seeded team of Martina Hingis & Leander Paes.

“The severity of the injury was and continues to be assessed by the on-site medical personnel at the U.S. Open,” said U.S. Open Tournament Director David Brewer. “The medical staff has recommended that Ms. Bouchard withdraw from today’s competitions, and Ms. Bouchard is following that advice. No determination about competing in the singles competition has been made at this time. Ms. Bouchard will continue with medical evaluation and treatment for the remainder of the day.”

Bouchard’s status for her fourth round match on Sunday against Italy’s Roberta Vinci remains uncertain.
