A Play for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) event was recently held at Shelter Rock Country Club in Manhasset, N.Y. as members gathered to compete in a tennis tournament to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Last summer, Shelter Rock CC raised a record $53,000 for the Play for P.I.N.K. Organization. This year, Robin Deitch Nogrady, tournament director of the event, said that the event raised more than $60,000.

Speaking with Robin, she made it clear how important it is to raise as much money as possible, but she also noted how special the event is to her along with the other participants.

“This event started because I had breast cancer in 2013,” said Nogrady. “The president of the club then came to me and said you know what, we got to do something, let’s do a charity event. And that summer, we did it and raised $40,000. The next summer, we raised $53,000 and this year, we beat that total. We have some great members of Shelter Rock CC … everyone is here, kids are volunteering, we have people throwing money at us, and everyone wants to play tennis. The Shelter Rock family is just phenomenal.”

Nogrady wanted to thank her husband Dean Nogrady, Rick and Monica Leibman, Alex Areg, and Allan Fuller for the help for making the event continue to grow each summer. Once again, it was a successful Play for P.I.N.K. event at Shelter Rock Country Club where tennis is more than just a sport.
