Oyster Bay Edges Valley Stream South in Conference III Action

The Oyster Bay boys’ tennis team got back on the winning track on Monday afternoon, moving past Valley Stream South 5-2 in a Conference III-A matchup to improve to 3-3 on the season.

The Baymen were led by Jed Kaiser, who defeated Manu Baiju 6-2, 6-1 at third singles. David Wisenfeld and Preston Rosh also chipped in with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at second doubles.

Oyster Bay has now won two of its last three matches.

In a rematch of last year’s Nassau County championship, the Syosset Braves defeated Cold Spring Harbor 7-0 to improve their overall record to 7-0.

The clinching victory came from the senior duo of Aditya Dave and Ian Capell who beat Oscar Como and Tom Campbell 6-0, 7-6(2) at third doubles.

Great Neck North defeated cross-town rival Great Neck South 5-2 in a Conference I showdown. Jared Hakimian led the way for the Blazers, beating Jack Briamonte 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at second singles to help Great Neck North snap a three-match losing streak.

Roslyn got past Plainview JFK 5-2 behind Zachary Khazzam at second singles. Khazzam hung on to beat Anthony Casale 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-0 to lead the way. Arin Siriamonthep and Jordan Bernstein contributed a 6-3, 7-5 at fourth doubles for Roslyn.

Also in Conference I on Monday, Jericho edged Port Washington 4-3. Drew Cohen and Vincent Chen helped seal the deal with a 6-7(3), 7-6(3), 6-4 comeback win over Eric Fishbin and Bob Kunoff at fourth doubles.

Massapequa snapped a two-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over MacArthur in Conference II-B play on Monday. Matthew Waterhouse outlasted Jake Kaufman 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 at second singles to help pace the victory, while Andrew Walsh and Alexandre Meirhaeghe beat Alex Caldera and Josh Dockweilar 6-3, 7-5 at first doubles to help secure the Massapequa victory.
