Great Neck North Upends Manhasset in Weekend Showdown

Massapequa Clinches Conference III-B Title

The Blazers of Great Neck North defeated Manhasset 5-2 in a key Conference I showdown on Friday, improving its record to 8-5.

Alyssa Ghassabian led the way for Great Neck North, coming back from a set down to beat Kyleigh Harmon 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 at third singles to anchor the Blazers’ victory.

The Massapequa Chiefs clinched the Conference III-B title with a 6-1 triumph over Mepham, moving to 13-0 on the season.

At third singles, Grace Ryan knocked off Emily Garone 6-3, 7-5 to push Massapequa past Mepham and clinched the conference title.

Syosset snapped a four-match losing streak on Saturday afternoon, edging Port Washington 4-3 in a tight Conference I battle. The clinching match came at second doubles, as the senior pair of Danielle Jacoby and Kate Majoy outlasted Anna Watson and Dylan Silvin 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at second doubles to lead Syosset to the win.

In a Conference II-A matchup, Great Neck South improved to 8-6 on the year with a 5-2 win over New Hyde Park. The senior duo of Brooke Weinberger and Haley Raphael won 6-4, 6-2 at first doubles to lead the Rebels to the win.
