The Australian Open has announced it will increase its purse for the 2017 tournament, offering 50 million Australian dollars, about $36.2 million American dollars, in prize money.

“We are committed to further improving the pay and conditions on the international tennis tour to ensure every professional tennis player is properly compensated,” said Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley.

The prize money is a 14 percent increase from last year’s tournament. The men’s singles and women’s singles winners will earn $2.68 million while a first-round loser will earn about $36,220.

Currently, the U.S. Open has the largest prize money of any of the grand Slams, with $46.3 million given out in prize money, $3.5 million for each of the singles champions.
