Syosset, South Side Win On Wednesday To Stay Perfect

Port Washington, Massapequa, Wantagh, West Hempstead Also Maintain Undefeated Records

The Syosset Braves and South Side Cyclones were two of the teams who stayed unbeaten in the early season on a beautiful afternoon on Wednesday.

Syosset extended its winning streak to 37 matches with a 5-2 win over Conference I foe Plainview JFK to improve to 3-0 on the season. Freshman Kabir Rajpal clinched the match for the Braves, defeating Jared Phillips 6-2, 6-2 at second singles.

The Cyclones of South Side notched a 6-1 win over Oceanside on Wednesday to win its fourth consecutive match to start the season. Jimmy Ryan nailed a down a huge win in the first singles spot, outlasting Kyle Cohen 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 to lead the way for South Side. Harry Swett and Matt Rusniyak won 7-5, 6-4 at second doubles as well to help anchor the victory.

Keeping pace with Syosset in Conference I was Port Washington, who moved to 3-0 with a 6-1 win over Cold Spring Harbor. Zachary Gruber and Ryan Siegel picked up a straight-sets win at third doubles, and Alex Karmen outlasted Matt Cashin 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the first singles spot to help lead the Vikings to its third straight victory.

Also in Conference I, Jericho won its first match of the season with a 4-3 win over Great Neck North. The match would be decided by second singles as Varun Reddy hung on for the 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win over Jordan Greiff.

Massapequa swept all seven courts to notch a 7-0 win over Valley Stream Central on Wednesday. John Probst and Anthony Guerriere beat Mark Dyce and Olivier Previl 6-4, 6-4 at third doubles to lead the Chiefs to a 3-0 record.

Wantagh and West Hempstead remained undefeated with wins in Conference IV on Wednesday. Nick Cerasi posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jose Mejia at first singles, while Jacob Don and John King won 6-4, 6-4 at fourth doubles to lead Wantagh past Freeport 7-0. West Hempstead edged Uniondale 4-3.


Wantagh defeated Freeport 7-0 on Wednesday. 

In Conference II-A, Herricks got in the win column with a 7-0 win over Hicksville. The match was more competitive than the scoreline would indicate, but Herricks was able to come out victorious. Jared Lam and Ashwin Palaniappan won 6-3, 6-3 over Lorenzo DiGiacomo and Kavan Singh at first doubles to lead the way for Herricks.
