For the second consecutive season, the Nassau County championship will be played between the Syosset Braves and Roslyn Bulldogs after both teams won their respective semifinal matches on Wednesday afternoon.
Roslyn took on Port Washington and defeated the Vikings for the third time this year and second time in a week, advancing to the finals with a 5-2 victory.
“We fought hard to get the win over a strong conference rival and we are looking forward to our rematch with Syosset next week,” said Roslyn head coach Kerriann Jannotte-Hinkley. “We will continue with business as usual as we get ready for the finals against a strong Syosset team next week.”
Syosset won for the 50th straight time on Wednesday, moving past Plainview JFK 6-1 in its semifinal, to reach the final for the fifth straight year.
The Doubles teams led the way for Syosset as they swept all four courts. The first doubles team of Preet Rajpal and Adam Canarick won 6-3, 6-2 to get things started for Syosset.
Plainview evened the overall score at 1-1 when Yuval Solomon avenged his only loss of the season, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 against Neel Rajesh at first singles.

“I played pretty solid. My strategy was to avoid hitting short balls and to move him around the court,” said Solomon. “I had two weeks to make adjustment since I last played Neel and I played smarter today.”
From there it was all Syosset, and the match was clinched by Kabir Rajpal at second singles who defeated Anthony Casale 7-5, 6-3.
Syosset and Roslyn have played twice this season, with Syosset winning both matches 4-3.
“The team played very well today and I like where we are heading into the finals,” said Syosset head coach Shai Fisher. “We have experience in the finals and I think that will help our guys be prepared.”
Eli Grossman, who plays third singles and is one of the experienced players on Syosset’s team, says his team will be ready to go in the final.
“I’m going to tell the guys that this is an opportunity they have to seize,” said Grossman. “For our seniors, while they have been here before, this is their last shot. And for the younger guys, you never know when you will be back in this position so you have to make the most of it.”
The final is set for Tuesday, May 23 at Eisenhower Park.
