Godio and Sickmen Runners-Up in Sexy Beach Tennis $5,000 Tournament

Teaming up for the first time and facing top competition and a challenging draw, Matteo Godio and David Sickmen had their work cut out for them as they took to sands of Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY for the Sexy Beach Tennis $5,000 Tournment.
Godio and Sickmen meshed well though and were able to work their way through pool play and into the knockout rounds. Late Saturday night, their fourth round match began under the lights against Matt Garavaglia and Stephen Sayoc.
By that time Godio and Sickmen really started to click though as a team and they defeated Garavaglia and Sayoc 6-0, 6-1. On Sunday morning the players returned for quarterfinal action and Godio and Sickmen were able to defeat Vladimir Helmut Cruz and his partner 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals where they knocked off the top seeds Carlos Rivera and Mark Bonfigli 6-0, 7-5.
In the final, the duo, who by this point had played close to 20 sets over the two days, started to tire. They fell to Ali Colamartes and Jesus Rodriguez in a very tight final 4-6, 4-6.
Despite the finals defeat it was a fantastic tournament for Godio and Sickmen who can now build on their partnership moving forward to win titles in 2018.
