Recent Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion Novak Djokovic will return to the No. 1 spot in the ATP World Tour Rankings next week, after current No. 1 Rafael Nadal withdrew from the Rolex Paris Masters on Wednesday.

The Serb returns to the top of the rankings for the first time in almost two years, and becomes the first player ranked outside the Top 20 to reach the top spot in the same season since Marat Safin did so in 2000.

Djokovic is currently competing in Paris, where he is coming off a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Joao Sousa in his opener earlier this week.
