After a successful summer Long Island Tennis Magazine Challenge last month, we are excited to announce a special fall event of the tournament series set for Saturday, September 12 at SPORTIME Quogue.

Back in July, the tournament featured a sold-out draw of Men’s and Women’s Doubles teams as the tennis community was excited to return to the court and compete against one another in a friendly environment once again. In addition to the quality tennis played on court, the tournament was a success thanks to the players and all involved adhering to proper health and safety protocols.

The 2020 Fall Long Island Tennis Magazine Challenge will be played in a different format than previous tournaments. There will be no Men’s and Women’s Doubles, but instead the event will feature four divisions of Mixed Doubles play:

6.0-6.5 (combined)

7.0-7.5 (combined)

8.0-8.5 (combined)

9.0-9.5 (combined)

“The Long Island Tennis Magazine Challenge has been an annual Summer event series we have hosted the past eight summers and has been a staple of the Summer Tennis season in New York. This year we had a very successful and safe event in July. As tennis continues to come back, we believe part of our responsibility is to use our excellent ties to the community to put on events that help bring our local community together. The Long Island Tennis Magazine Challenge this summer showed us, that people want a return to some normalcy and days where they can safely compete on the court and spend time with tennis friends. Because of that, we wanted to extend the tournament series into the fall, and continue doing what we can to unite players. The current plan is also to host a Winter and Spring Long Island Tennis Magazine Challenge in early 2021 as well.”

Play begins at 1:00 p.m. and the tournament will run until 5:00 p.m., and will be followed by a happy hour during which players and guests can watch the U.S. Open Women’s Singles final which will be shown on a large projection screen outside.
