Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the finals of the 2011 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells Tennis Center on Sunday. Djokovic improved his overall mark to a perfect 18-0 in 2011 with the win over the world’s top ranked player. The win will move Djokovic into the number two spot in the ATP Tour rankings as Nadal will maintain his number one-ranked status.

“I know that the season is very long and I don’t want to be too euphoric about the win,” said Djokovic, who now moves on to Miami to play at this week’s Sony Ericsson Open. “I need to celebrate a little bit and then move on.”
