Weekly Tennis Wisdom: Jump in the Pool

jump in

When watching the best tennis players in the world hitting the ball, we see that they do it in so many different styles, yet the ball still travels very fast and with a high level of precision.

All these movements have something in common and it is superb biomechanics. In sports, biomechanics refers to the study of human movements.

When watching the players I coach hit the ball there is one thing I always look for first, and it’s how efficient their movement is when they are transferring their body weight into the ball at the point of contact.

So when we are working on serves I like to say, “Jump in, the water is fine. Allow your body to jump in the pool.”
