The U$ Open

Net Generation

In evolving announcements that would put a Rube Goldberg machine to shame, the USTA has announced that “our plans to stage the US Open on our scheduled dates at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York with fans remains on-going.”

Except, we “have been aggressively modeling many other contingencies, including scenarios with no fans.”

So we are going to run the event as we always have, unless we don’t ?

Unless we run the event in California the way we always have, except 3,000 miles away.

This comes on the heels of a no fan tournament being deemed “highly unlikely” just a few weeks ago because “it’s not in the spirit of the celebration of the event” with a pledge to “safety first.”

I think many people would be happy to celebrate watching at home and, if safety is genuinely put first, wouldn’t that also be safer?
