Kim Clijsters has announced that she will be ready to play in the 2011 French Open at Roland Garros. This announcement comes after she was faced with wrist and shoulder ailments, along with a sprained ankle, which she faced back in early April. Clijsters, who pulled out of the Italian Open, feared she would not be healthy enough to compete at the French Open where she has been a two-time finalist.

Clijsters will compete with a taped ankle in the French Open on Roland Garros’ clay courts where her gameplay is normally her weakest. She has been indecisive for the past week on whether she would be able to enter the French Open. Clijsters has now been back on the courts for two weeks and has stated, “It has been a while since I played a match, let alone on red clay."
