A Look Opening Round Action at the 2011 French Open

The French Open begins Sunday, May 22nd with a few very interesting matchups to kick things off. Defending champion Rafael Nadal has his sights set on a sixth French Open title and will face American John Isner in the first round. Serbian Novak Djokovic puts his near-record win streak on the line at the French Open as he faces Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands on the other side of the men’s draw.

Roger Federer from Switzerland, the 2009 French Open champion, will play Spain’s Feliciano Lopez in his opening round, while fourth-ranked Andy Murray will play qualifier and 118th-ranked Eric Prodon from France.

On the women’s side, 2010 French Open champ Francesca Schiavone of Italy will face American Melanie Oudin in round one., while U.S. Open and Australian Open champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium will face Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus. Russian Maria Sharapova will begin her quest for the 2011 French Open title against Mirjana Lucic of Croatia, and top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark will face Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm in opening round play.
