At the end of every regular season, high school tennis teams dedicate their final home match to the seniors on their roster. On Tuesday, Commack High School did just that and honored its 11 senior players.

That list included:

James Yu, Joe Romito, Saharsh Peddireddy, Eddie Liao, Landon Lung, Shubhnan Rangnekar, Nick Whalen, Mike Florentino, Madhay Nair, Adam Fawaz and Tyler Conover.

Conover is a player on the Junior Varsity team at Commack for several years who recently won the Gold Medal at Nassau County Regionals of the Special Olympics.

“Tyler brings enthusiasm, hard work and a great attitude with him wherever he goes,” said Commack head coach Jimmy Delevante.

On Tuesday, Conover got the call up to the varsity team and paired with Danny Strogach at third doubles. The pairing clinched Commack’s win as they won 6-1, 6-3.

Conover was joined by 15 supporters of friends and family to watch him secure the win for his team. Up next for him is the Special Olympics New York State Championships in Ithaca next month.

“We wish Tyler a special congratulations for his help today and for all of his efforts as a member of our Commack Tennis Community,” added Delevante.
