The Farmingdale State men’s tennis team won its second consecutive Skyline Conference Championship as the Rams defeated Manhattanville University 5-4. The win moved Farmingdale to 17-0 on the season and into the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships.
The Rams won two of the three doubles flights to take a 2-1 advantage early on. After Manhattanville won at fourth and second singles, Alan Sabovic won 6-1, 6-3 at first singles to even things at 3-3.
Ty Williams won his fifth singles match 7-6(4), 6-3 before Manhattanville brought the final to 4-4 with a win at sixth singles, leaving the championship to be determined by the third singles flight.
That’s when Vansh Aggarwal delivered for the Rams. The junior came back from a set down to win 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the championship. As a result of that win and his play during the tournament, Aggarwal was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship.
