For the third straight year, the Nassau County Boys’ Small School Championship pitted Friends Academy against Wheatley. And for the second straight time, it was the Quakers of Friends Academy that came out on top.

Friends swept all five courts in Thursday’s final at Syosset High School to defend its title from 2023 and advance to the Long Island Small School Championship, which is set for  Tuesday, May 28.

On Thursday, Friends was led by its top two singles players, William Bohner and Russell Notaris. Bohner won a thrilling three-set match against Wheatley’s Aaron Raja at first singles, coming back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, while Notaris posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second singles.

The Quakers’ doubles play stepped up as well. Bryan Bin & Hudson Lee fought their way back from a first set defeat to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at first doubles.

At second doubles, Danny Duke & Zachary Cohen were 7-5, 7-5 winners, and the third doubles pairing of Henry Koelmel & Vedant Rawat won 6-4, 6-2 to complete the sweep for Friends Academy.

Friends Academy will play the winner of The Ross School and Bayport-Blue Point in the Long Island Championship.
