Long Island Girls’ High School Recap: Friday, September 6

The defending Suffolk County Small School Champions Bayport-Blue Point improved to 2-0 on the season as it defeated the defending Large School Champions Hills East 5-2 in a road matchup on Thursday.

The Phantoms were led by Emilia Romano who won 6-1, 6-3 at first singles, while Lily Castka won 6-3, 6-3 at second singles and Jordana Heller notched a 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 in the third singles position.

For Hills East, Samantha Heyman & Emma Wilck were winners at first doubles and Kahenya Mukora & Sasha Chandok won at fourth doubles.

Rounding out the scoring for Bayport-Blue Point was a second doubles win from Danielle Oleksiak & Leah Richardt and a third doubles victory from Leila Rogers & Ella Little.

Sayville defeated Southold/Greenport 6-1 to record its first win of the season, as Gabriella Binetti was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at first singles.

For Westhampton Beach, Maggie Gilbride won 7-5, 3-6, 10-7 at first singles to give the Hurricanes its first win of the season.

Kings Park moved to 2-0 on the season defeating Longwood 5-2. Ashleigh Fredriksen & Emma Wozniak were 6-0, 6-2 winners at first doubles.
