American Andy Roddick was able to come back from a one-set deficit to defeat Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Swiss Indoors event in Basel, Switzerland. Roddick advances to play Switzerland’s Roger Federer next in the quarterfinals.

"I think the only tournament we have played so many times is Wimbledon," said Roddick, who has lost in his last three meetings in Basel against the Swiss.

Top-ranked Serbian Novak Djokovic has also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Swiss Indoors after defeating Lukasz Kubot of Poland in the second round in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. It took just 55 min. to capture another win against the 64th-ranked qualifier.

"It was really a comfortable match for me," said Djokovic. "It was kind of expected at the start of the tournament that I would struggle with my rhythm … but today, I have no complaints with my game."
