The Ross School repeated as the Suffolk County Small School (Division II) champions as the Ravens defeated Bayport-Blue Point 4-3 at Smithtown East High School to win the county title for a third consecutive season.
“Our team was more determined than ever this season,” said Ross’ Leo Carmo. “We trained extremely hard and built upon each match.”

“I think that in my case as the first singles player, you can always feel a little more pressure, but you have to deal with it, and I think I did a good job with that in the whole season,” said Lopez. “I played a complete match and stayed focused.”
Bayport-Blue Point strengthened its doubles teams and won three of the four flights as a result, as Shane Duerr & Matthew Decatur posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at first doubles, while Nick Byman & Luke Jensen came back to win 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(4) at second doubles, and Aidan Apicella & Dominic Linzie won 6-0, 6-2 at third doubles.
But Ross would secure the fourth and decisive win of the overall match, with Alex Frolich & Rowan O’Brien coming back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to seal the championship.
“Our seniors Alex and Rowan were the turning point for us,” said Carmo.
