Courts & Cocktails Brings Tennis Joy On Saturday Night

May 13, 2026 | By Long Island Tennis Magazine Staff

The Courts & Cocktails Event Series presented by Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group returned to the courts of SPORTIME Port Washington, as a full crowd of tennis enthusiasts came out on a Saturday night to enjoy a fun night of playing tennis, hanging out with and making new friends, and enjoying delicious food and drinks.

Our Courts & Cocktails events raise money for various outside charities throughout the year but on this night the proceeds went to Grow Tennis New York, the non-profit arm of Long Island Tennis Magazine.

Played across hard courts inside John McEnroe Tennis Academy’s Long Island facility, players were broken up by level as teaching professionals guide the groups through fast paced, high energy  drills and games. Players switch courts every 25 minutes which allows everyone a chance to play with multiple players throughout the night.

“The turnout and feedback from our Courts & Cocktails events continue to reinforce the need for social tennis options and professionally-run events in this area,” said David Sickmen, Publisher of Long Island Tennis Magazine. “We love being in the community and bringing players of all different levels together. The events have been very popular with adults looking to get away from the monotony of typical Saturday night plans and have a more active weekend evening where they can meet new people or spend time with friends.”

Throughout the on-court portion of the event, LITM’s event staff brought drinks out to the players, including our version of the famed U.S. Open Honey Deuce among others, while music plays to keep the event lively and fun.

Following the tennis, the bar remains open while a catered spread of Italian food ranging from pizzas and pastas to wings and grilled chicken, and much more!

“It was a perfect mix of competition, laughter, amazing drinks, and unforgettable moments both on and off the court,” said Daman Dutt.

Dianna Rainone added:

“It was such a well done event with matches followed by cocktails, dinner, and meaningful connections. I loved that it brought together both friends and new faces through tennis.”

The events serve as a way to benefit all aspects of the tennis community, from providing more work opportunities for the teaching pros, to helping fill vacant court time at the host clubs, and reinforcing the players’ passion for tennis, while giving them a social environment, which leads to them playing more outside of Courts & Cocktails events.

“Our events are well run and showcase all we love about tennis, from the competitiveness to the social side and the fun both on and off the court with like-minded people,” Sickmen added. “And we embrace using these events as a way to fundraise, and continue growing all aspects of tennis in our community. Thank you to SPORTIME Port Washington for hosting the event at their beautiful facility, and helping us run another successful charity event.”
