TAF Tennis 2026: A Season of Great Tennis & Community

In its 51st year, TAF Tennis featured seven outdoor tennis ladder leagues across Long Island, beginning in April and running through September. TAF, a non-profit Community Tennis Organization, is run entirely by volunteers with a small board that oversees the operations and administration.
This year, 73 new members joined TAF Tennis, indicating the continued growth of the league.
“The increase reflects what makes TAF special—adult players of all ages enjoy the game and the chance to meet new tennis partners,” said Kitty Anderson-Galvez, who runs the social media and marketing for TAF. “Even as our costs of living rose, annual membership remained the same.”
In June, TAF held its annual picnic at Farmingdale State University where players could enjoy play across six courts, taking part in drills, pickup games and match play, and all members were provided with food, drinks and a TAF Swag.

When it was all said and done, the 2026 season featured more than 2,000 total matches, and below are the final rankings when the league wrapped up in September.

TAF Tennis 2026 Playoffs
Years ago, TAF joined up with the former Huntington Tennis Association for an end-of-season playoff. Longtime TAF member Terry Kossegi proposed bringing the tradition back with a tournament just for the TAF members. Thanks to Terry’s work as tournament director and his efforts to meet all the official requirements, the TAF Tennis 2026 Playoffs took place at Eisenhower Park this fall with the league’s top performers coming together for a great day of tennis competition.
“It was a perfect sunny October Saturday for our first annual TAF Tennis Playoff Tournament,” said Kossegi. “Most of the TAF Ladders played two fun and competitive matches in a full day of tennis. Hopefully this is the first of many more tourneys to come.”
