World number one-ranked Victoria Azarenka of Belarus had her 26-match win streak halted Wednesday night at the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open after a 3-6, 3-6 straight sets loss to France’s Marion Bartoli. The seventh-seeded Bartoli heads into the semifinals where she will meet the number five seed, Agnieszka Radwanska. Already headed to the finals is world number two-ranked Russian Maria Sharapova, a Thursday afternoon winner over Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
It was only Bartoli’s third win over Azarenka in her career meetings. Radwanska has yet to drop a set so far this year in Miami.
"She has been extremely consistent for a while now," Bartoli said of her next round opponent Radwanska. "I know I will have to run a lot, a lot more forward, because I know she’s going to make a lot of drop shots. I’m going to be ready."
