The USTA has announced that American Mardy Fish will pull out of the 2012 Davis Cup quarterfinals against France due to a health scare. Fish was seen by doctors in Key Biscayne during the Sony Ericsson Open after facing extreme fatigue and will now need to rest for two to three days. The USTA has not said what exactly is wrong with Fish.

The U.S. Davis Cup team plays France in Monte Carlo starting this Friday. Ryan Harrison will replace Fish on the U.S. roster. Gael Monfils will also miss France’s Davis Cup quarterfinals due to an abdominal injury.

The French tennis federation has stated that Guy Forget will name his replacement for the 14th-ranked Monfils. Monfils started experiencing pain during practice Sunday and an MRI test showed a lesion on his left oblique muscle and will need to rest for at least 15 days.
