Cold Spring Harbor to Face Hewlett for Nassau Championships
Cold Spring Harbor defeated Friends Academy 5-2 in the semifinals of the Nassau County High School Boys Tennis Conference Playoffs yesterday, setting up a showdown for the Nassau County title with Hewlett. The feature match of the day was the first singles battle which was a rematch of the Nassau County Individual Singles Final played last weekend, as Josh Levine of Cold Spring Harbor squared off with his friend and training partner, Friends Academy’s Andrew Yaraghi. As was the case in the county final, Levine defeated Yaraghi in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-2. Asked after the match what it is like to play against a friend, Levine said, “Out there on the court we’re rivals, but off the court we’re buddies.”
This is Cold Spring Harbor’s fifth consecutive time qualifying for the Nassau County Final and they will seek to capture their fifth straight championship. “It’s a great accomplishment and we want to approach this one the same way we did the other four. Hopefully we bring our ‘A’ game," said Levine.
CSH will face Hewlett in the Nassau County Finals after Hewlett defeated Great Neck South in the other semifinal yesterday, 5-2. The Nassau Final will be played at a yet to be determined neutral site tomorrow, May 18th. The winner of that match will play for the Long Island Championship on Wednesday, May 30th against the Suffolk County champion.
