After the conclusion of Day Two of the 2012 Wimbledon Qualifiers, 10 American men and women remain in their respective draws. Veteran and the number four seed, Michael Russell, won his second round match today against Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer, 6-3, 6-4. Number five seeded Jesse Levine also won his second round match against Hiroki Moriya of Japan, 7-5, 6-7, 6-0. The young up and comer, Denis Kudla won his match easily, 6-2, 6-4 against Simone Vagnozzi. Wayne Odesnick defeated Peter Polansky of Canada, 7-6, 6-3 to secure his third round spot. Ryan Sweeting and Rajeev Ram were the next two American men to advance. Michael Yani and Tim Smyczek were defeated in the second round.

On the women’s side of the draw, only first round play has been completed. Unfortunately, the tournament has not started off as well for the American women as it has for the men. Seventeen-year-old Madison Keys won her first Wimbledon qualifying match against Marta Domachowska, 6-1, 6-3. Alison Riske won her match against Caroline Garcia of France, 6-2, 6-4. Alexa Glatch defeated Anna Floris easily, 6-1, 6-0. The number 14 seed, Coco Vandeweghe, also won her opening match against Tamaryn Hendler, 6-1, 6-2. However, four women were knocked out in the first round, including Madison Brengle, Grace Min, Julia Cohen and veteran Jill Craybas.
