Long Beach Tennis Center Joins With Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer in Fundraising Effort

Long Beach Tennis Center joined with Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer on Thursday night in a fundraising effort to raise money for those affected by breast cancer. More than 40 were on hand to come out to support this great cause. The music was blasting and everyone was having a great time doing drills and playing games.
Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer was founded in 2000 by Carmela Short after her diagnosis with breast cancer. The organization holds charitable events each year to raise money and awareness for those directly affected by the disease.
Cure Mommy has helped in many ways such as paying mortgages or rent, providing house cleaning services, or paying medical insurance premiums. Carmela passed away in 2003 but her legacy lives on. Since 2000, Cure Mommy has donated over $500,000 to men, women, and children in need.
“We had an excellent turnout tonight,” said Ellen Siddiqui, owner of Long Beach Tennis Center and an integral part of Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer. “There were a lot of regulars, but also many people from other tennis clubs who came out to support the charity. All proceeds from the event go directly to the charity so we hope to do more of this in the future and maybe have even more people attend.”
There will also be a USTA-sanctioned tournament held at Long Beach Tennis Center this weekend supporting Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer.
