Tomic to Face Murray in Miami After First Round Win

Andy Murray will meet Bernard Tomic to open play at the 2013 Sony Open Tennis after Tomic defeated qualifier Marc Gicquel 7-5, 7-6(3). Tomic overcame a break deficit in the first set to prevail against Gicquel in 83 minutes.

Viktor Troicki handed Pablo Andujar his sixth opening-round exit of the season after defeating the Spaniard 6-2, 6-3. Troicki will face off against sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a place in the third round. A pair of Americans fell in their openers. Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei eased past qualifier Robby Ginepri and Colombia’s Santiago Giraldo beat wild card Rhyne Williams 6-2, 6-4.

Alejandro Falla, Daniel Gimeno-Traver, Olivier Rochus and Guillaume Rufin were also victorious in first-round action.
