Merrick, N.Y.’s Scott Lipsky and his doubles partner Santiago Gonzalez were 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 winners over defending champions Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi & Jean-Julien Rojer to capture the 2013 Portugal Open Men’s Doubles title. Gonzalez improved to a 7-2 record in doubles finals, while Lipsky is now 9-7 overall. Lipsky captured the 2009 Oeiras title with Eric Butorac.

“We played well and enjoyed playing the bigger matches,” said Lipsky. “We were almost down match point in our first-round match [against Robin Haase & Igor Sijsling], so we got lucky.”

Qureshi dropped to an 8-10 record in tour-level finals, while Rojer is now 8-11 lifetime in title matches. Rojer also won the 2011 Oeiras title with Butorac. Qureshi & Rojer dropped to a 14-9 record on the season, highlighted by their biggest career title at the Sony Open Tennis in Miami on March 30. They were also finalists at the Open 13 in Marseille.
