American qualifier Jamie Hampton upset 2009 champion Caroline Wozniacki 6-7 (8), 7-5, 6-3 to reach the finals of the 2013 Aegon International. Hampton will play the first final of her career against Elena Vesnina. She’ll attempt to become the first American woman to win the title since Chanda Rubin beat Conchita Martinez in 2003.

"Caroline is tough," said Hampton. "She sticks with it whether she’s winning or losing. She made me earn what I got."

The 41st-ranked Hampton’s victory came after she lost five set points for the first set. The ninth-ranked Wozniacki also served for the match at 5-4 in the second, but failed to convert.

Vesnina won 11 games in a row from 1-2 in the first set to beat Yanina Wickmayer, 6-2, 6-0. Vesnina has more experience than Hampton in WTA finals, but has a 1-6 record overall. Vesnina has never faced Hampton before.
