Andy Murray played and won his first match since winning Wimbledon at the Rogers Cup in Montreal by defeating Marcel Granollers. With the win, Murray extended his win streak to 13 matches, and also gets him one step closer to a third title at the Rogers Cup.
Granollers was up 5-2 in the second set, but he was broken at 5-3 by Murray to get back on serve. The second set went to a tie-break with Murray eventually winning it 7-2. Murray was broken twice and only won 50 percent of his second serve points.
Murray’s next opponent will be Ernests Gulbis, who beat Fabio Fognini 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 and he had to fight off nine break points on the path to winning that match.
