Kings Park’s Frenie Acoba to Sing at Fourth Consecutive U.S. Open

The USTA has announced the names of 13 talented vocalists, all ages 12-and-under, who will perform patriotic-themed songs prior to the night sessions of the 2013 U.S. Open, as well as on Arthur Ashe Kids Day. The lineup for this year’s U.S. Open features talent from throughout the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area, as well as from California, North Carolina and Arkansas. Performing at her fourth consecutive U.S. Open will be Frenie Acoba of Kings Park, N.Y. Brennley Faith Brown of Hisperia, Calif., Iris Noel of Staten Island, N.Y., Jake Faragalli of Erial, N.J., and Joshua King of Mathews, N.C., each will make their second consecutive appearance performing in Arthur Ashe Stadium. Quinton Ellis of Little Rock, Ark., kicked off the U.S. Open by singing the national anthem at the 18th annual Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day, presented by Hess, this past Saturday. This year’s U.S. Open also will welcome eight first-time performers. Each of the children will perform in front of anticipated capacity crowds in Arthur Ashe Stadium, one of the premier stages in all of sports and entertainment.

Earlier this summer, the performers were selected through the first-ever nationwide DVD submission, through which more than 150 hopefuls auditioned. Performances were then reviewed by a of panel of judges from the music and entertainment industries. These children will join the group of music industry leaders who have performed at the event, ranging from Rob Thomas and Aretha Franklin to Diana Ross and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Earth, Wind & Fire. This year’s Opening Night Ceremony will feature a special musical performance by four-time Grammy Award-winner Lenny Kravitz.
