Boys High School Round Up: Massapequa Takes Down South Side in Final Regular Season Match

In the final match of the season before the playoffs and county championships begin, the Massapequa Chiefs hosted the South Side Cyclones in a Conference II clash on Friday afternoon.
The Cyclones entered the match with seven wins in its last eight matches, but were up against a formidable opponent in the Chiefs who were looking to win their sixth straight match.
On the back of its outstanding singles play, Massapequa cruised to a 5-2 victory over South Side, picking up victories in three of the four singles battles. At first singles, Nasser Ghaffar of Massapequa beat David Reinharz of South Side 7-6(7-5), 3-6, 6-4. Andrew Bentz and Daniel Kafka also notched victories in their respective matches to help lead the Chiefs.
Massapequa wraps the season at 10-4, while South Side drops to 11-3 but remains atop the Conference II standings despite the loss. Both teams will be looking to make deep runs when the county playoffs pick up this week.
