2026 Australian Open Women’s Singles Semifinals: Sabalenka vs. Svitolina…Pegula vs. Rybakina

The 12th day of the Australian Open begins later this evening, and there are just four players remaining in the Women’s Singles competition.
After the quarterfinals finished up on Wednesday, the semifinals will get underway in Melbourne.Â
Women’s Singles Semifinals
(1) Aryna Sabalenka vs. (12) Elina Svitolina
The top-ranked Sabalenka is seeking her third Australian Open title in four years, and attempting to make it to the championship for a fourth straight year. She has yet to drop a set so far in Melbourne this year, and is coming off of a routine victory over 29th seeded American Iva Jovic in the quarterfinals.Â
Her opponent, Elina Svitolina, has also not dropped a set this fortnight, and is fresh off of a 6-1, 6-2 rout of third-seeded American Coco Gauff in her previous match. This is her fourth major semifinal, and first in Australia.Â
Sabalenka is 5-1 all-time against Svitolina.Â

(5) Elena Rybakina vs. (6) Jessica Pegula
Three years ago, Elena Rybakina reached the finals of the Australian Open, and is within one victory of returning to that position. She is a former Wimbledon champion, and has yet to drop a set so far in Melbourne. The closest she came was a 7-5 first set win in her second round, and is coming off a clinical takedown of second-seed Iga Swiatek.Â
On the other side will be American Jessica Pegula, who will be competing in her first semifinal Down Under. Pegula has looked sharp thus far in Australia, also not dropping a set and beating two Americans in her last two matches: defending champion Madison Keys, and two-time major finalist Amanda Anisimova. Pegula is still searching for her first major title.Â
Pegula and Rybakina have split the six meetings in their history.
