Great Britain’s Andy Murray has hired a new coach in hopes of finally winning a major title, eight-time Grand Slam winner Ivan Lendl. Murray will now start work with Lendl in preparation for the Australian Open, which commences on Jan. 16. Murray spent last season ranked in the top four, but still ended without a single Grand Slam under his belt.

"It was important to me that any new person joining my team was able to add fresh insight. Ivan’s impact on the game is unquestionable and he brings experience and knowledge that few others have, particularly in major tournaments. I look forward to working with him going forward," said Murray.

Murray reached the Australian Open final and the semifinals of three other Grand Slams in the 2011 season. He has lost in two other finals including the Australian Open in 2010 and the U.S. Open in 2008.

"I am really excited to have this opportunity to work with Andy. He is a unique talent and I look forward to trying to help him reach his goals," said Lendl.
