The ATP has announced that there will be significant prize-money increases on the World Tour over the next four years, and will surpass $100 million for the first time ever in 2015. It says that prize money could reach $135 million by 2018.
The biggest hike will come at the top-tier Masters 1000 tournaments where the winnings will be bumped by 14 percent (11 percent coming from the tournaments themselves and another 3 percent coming from the ATP) over the next four years.
Over that same period, the money at the 250 category tournaments will go up an average of 3.5 percent.
The announcement now means that the player compensation for all three levels on the tour is finalized. A five-year agreement for the ATP World Tour 500 category was put in place at the end of 2013.
