The USTA/Eastern-Long Island Region has announced a new event pitting doubles teams of club pros and juniors against each other to support the Junior Tennis Foundation and its goals. The Junior Tennis Foundation, a key non-profit organization within the Eastern Section, has, since its establishment in 1979, raised more than $1 million to support junior tennis and tennis for special populations across the Section.

The Battle of the Clubs will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Port Washington Tennis Academy, located at 100 Harbor Road, in Port Washington, N.Y. Doubles teams are asked to wear their club’s shirt or colors. Every Long Island club is asked to send at least one team, but clubs can send as many teams as they would like to stack the deck in favor of their club. Doubles teams will compete in a round-robin tournament and the team with the most wins will be declared the winner. The winning team will receive a beautiful plaque to place on their club’s walls for eternity.

Refreshments will be served, and clubs are encouraged to bring non-playing members to support their doubles teams and cheer them on. It promises to be a fun and exciting afternoon.

The cost to enter the tournament is $150 per doubles team, in a check made payable to the Junior Tennis Foundation. Checks should be mailed to:

Daniel Burgess, President, USTA/Eastern-Long Island Region • 141 Parsons Avenue • Freeport, NY 11520
