Tomas Berdych defeated Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-2 at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament finals in Rotterdam, his first trophy in 16 months, and his ninth ATP Tour-level championship in his 20th final outing.

“I’m very happy to win this tournament,” said Berdych. “There are always strong competitors in Rotterdam. This year, there were five players out of the top-10. Next year, I will be back to defend my title.”

Berdych extends his FedEx ATP Head2Head advantage over Cilic to 5-2 overall in seven career matches.

"It feels absolutely amazing," Berdych said. "It's been a while, actually 16 months since I won a title. To win a title in Rotterdam it's a nice bonus. I'm extremely happy with the way I handled it throughout the week. I've been serving pretty well, which has been the strong part of my game."

With the win, Berdych moves up to sixth in the ATP Tour Men’s Singles Rankings.
