Novak Djokovic was very happy with the better weather in New York on Sunday as he advanced to the finals of the 2012 U.S. Open with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 victory over David Ferrer. Djokovic started slow yesterday in windy conditions falling behind 2-5 in the first set before officials suspended the match. Today with the sun shining, Djokovic shined as well. After Ferrer won the first set, Djokovic decisively won the next three and advanced to tomorrow’s U.S. Open Finals where he will face Olympic Gold Medalist Andy Murray at 4:00 p.m.

The winner of this year’s Australian Open and defending U.S. Open Champion, Djokovic will defend his title against third-seeded Olympic champion Andy Murray. Murray will be looking to win his first Grand Slam title.

"It’s definitely a huge relief to get through this match," said Djokovic. "He’s a great competitor."

Djokovic hit 28 winners, twice as many as Ferrer did over the last three sets and converted six of eight break points.

"I came in today as a different player and I’m very happy to get to another Grand Slam final," said Djokovic.

Djokovic has made seven of the last nine Grand Slam finals.
