Djokovic Downs Bellucci To Advance in Paris

Top-seed Novak Djokovic made his way into the third-round of the Paris Masters on Tuesday, moving past Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci 7-5, 6-3.
Djokovic actually fell down an early break in the first set, but immediately responded in the next game with a break back to even the opening frame at 3-3. The set would remain on serve until 6-5, when Djokovic closed out the set with a break.
In the second set, Djokovic capitalized on the only break point he had, converting in and not allowing a single chance for Bellucci on his serve to win in straight sets.
Bellucci only got 48 percent of his first serves in play during the second set and Djokovic took full advantage. On his own serve, the Serb put 75 percent of his first serves in play.
The world number one moves on to play the winner of an all-French matchup between Benoit Paire and Gilles Simon.
French Open champion Stan Wawrinka got his Paris run off to a good start, edging Australia’s Bernard Tomic 6-3, 7-6(6) to advance.
The Swiss saved all five of the break points he faced to make up for the subpar serve he had, and he converted the lone break point of the match in the opening set.
Wawrinka moves on to play the winner of Viktor Troicki and Feliciano Lopez.
David Ferrer, who won this tournament back in 2012, cruised past Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2, 6-2 to reach the third-round.
The eighth-seeded Spaniard needed just one hour to advance. He plays the winner of Marin Cilic and Grigor Dimitrov.
The lone upset of the day came from the racquet of Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin, who came back from a set down to beat big-serving Croat Ivo Karlovic 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-6(5).
Roger-Vasselin will play Tomas Berdych in the second-round.
In other action in Paris, Viktor Troicki, Borna Coric, Jeremy Chardy, Lukas Rosol and Roberto Bautista-Agut all reached the second-round.
