Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, Tuesday in the first of a two-match charity exhibition series held for the charitable foundations of each of the sport’s top stars. "The Match for Africa," was presented by Credit Suisse, and proceeds from the event went to The Roger Federer Foundation, a foundation that assists projects in Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Federer mother’s native country of South Africa. A crowd of 10,000 was on hand at the Hallenstadion indoor arena in Switzerland for the event, which featured a number of Swiss television and sports personalities, including Olympic champion cyclist Fabian Cancellara and Alpine skier Didier Cuche. Also on hand was Federer’s friend, American skiing star Lindsey Vonn.

The second exhibition will be broadcast live on ESPN2 in the U.S. at 1:00 p.m. ET. from Madrid, Spain, called "Unidos Por La Infancia," and will benefit Nadal’s Fundacion de Rafael Nadal.
