Federer, Nadal and Sharapova Advance in Miami as Wozniacki is Ousted

At the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Roger Federer and number one-ranked ATP player Rafael Nadal both advanced to the fourth round of the event on the men’s side. On the women’s side, Maria Sharapova, the number 16 seed, was victorious over the number four seed Samantha Stosur, while top-ranked women’s player Caroline Wozniacki was upset by German Andrea Petkovic.
The two-time Sony Ericsson Open champ Federer beat Juan Monaco, the number 32-ranked player in the world, 7-6 (4), 6-4, while Spain’s Nadal was a winner over his fellow countryman, Feliciano Lopez, 6-3, 6-3.
Sharapova, who holds a perfect 7-0 lifetime record over Stosur, moves on to the quarterfinals to face number 26th-ranked Alexandra Dulgheru. Petkovic, innovator of "The Petko Dance," will face Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals after her upset over the top-ranked Wozniacki, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
