Floyd and Commack Girls Power Into Suffolk Semifinals

The Colonials of William Floyd High School continued their dominant run over the last two years, downing eighth-seed Sayville 7-0 in a Suffolk County quarterfinal match on Wednesday.
Brooke Fernandez anchored the victory for Floyd, downing Paige Liskiewicz 6-2, 6-0 at second singles. Floyd is now 18-0 on the season, and will take its undefeated record into the semifinals against fourth-seed Hills East on Thursday afternoon.
Hills East moved past fifth-seed Islip 6-1 on Wednesday.
Second-seeded Commack made its way into the final four with a 5-2 win over seventh-seeded Harborfields. Commack moves to 14-0 on the season, and will host sixth-seeded Easthampton-Bridgehampton-Pierson on Thursday.
Easthampton-Bridgehampton-Pierson upset third-seeded Ward Melville 6-1 in its quarterfinal contest Wednesday.
Cece Combemale & Allie Clark picked up the clinching win in second doubles over Hannah Gild & Brianna Paglia 6-4, 6-1 to lead the way.
