Girls High School Recap: Manhasset Upends Jericho to Reach Conference I Final

The Manhasset Indians advanced to the Nassau County Conference I final by defeating Jericho 5-2 in the semifinals on Monday afternoon. Manhasset was able to get contributions from a number of girls as it earned a spot versus Roslyn in the county final at Wheatley High School on Friday.

Manhasset was able to get wins from a number of its doubles pairs. In second doubles, Kyleigh Harmon and Alina Zhitnik knocked off Jericho’s A. Karen and K. Ghazi 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Grace Catlett & Yuhan Wang fought back from a first set defeat to beat I. Gold and R. Li 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 at third doubles.

The Indians were also able to notch a couple of key singles victories that sparked a win. Brooke DiGia defeated R. Hirschheimer 6-4, 6-1 in second singles while Madeline Clinton took care of J. Singh in third singles to help lead Manhasset.

Manhasset carries a 14-1 record into the Conference final on Friday. Manhasset won both previous meetings against Roslyn this season, and will look to make it a third straight time come Friday.
