The girls tennis schedule across Long Island was a light one on Thursday, as most teams prepare for their respective matches on Friday afternoon. However, a few teams took to the hard courts on Thursday afternoon, including Great Neck South, who was seeking to extend its winning streak to 11 and maintain its undefeated record.

The Rebels of Great Neck South traveled to Friends Academy for a Conference II-A battle. In a tight contest, the closest one the Rebels played all season, the match would come down to the fourth-doubles bout. Great Neck South’s Parker Spector & Meghan Reddy knocked off Danielle Kahn & Jesse Friedman 6-4, 6-4 to help edge Friends. The win moves the Rebels to 11-0 on the season with three matches left, while Friends falls to 7-3.

Also in Conference II-A, Herricks took out Oyster Bay 6-1. Herricks came into the match losers of four of its last five, but earned its way back into the win column with a convincing effort at home over Oyster Bay. Herricks improves to 4-6 while Oyster Bay drops to 1-7.
