Hewitt and Haas Among Wild Cards at 2012 Wimbledon

Lleyton Hewitt and David Goffin both have been given wild cards into Wimbledon 2012. Hewitt was the 2000 U.S. Open Men’s Doubles Champion, and captured the men’s singles titles at the 2001 U.S. Open and 2002 Wimbledon. Goffin, from Belgium, lost to Roger Federer but took a set off the number three-ranked Federer at the 2012 French Open.
German veteran Tommy Haas also received a wild card in the draw, along with four British players.
Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano, currently ranked 90th in the world who defeated American Serena Williams in the first round of the 2012 French Open, received one of the women’s eight wild cards. Kazakhstan qualifier Yaroslava Shvedova, who reached the recent French Open quarterfinals after ousting 2011 Roland Garros champion Li Na, also received a wild card.
